GREEN CITY YOUTH: Hunter School
Concerned with the issue of global warming, Hunter School’s Green City Youth students met with community gardeners from the nearby Norris Square neighborhood a number of times over the year to learn how gardens have improved environmental conditions in their community.
Noted city gardeners Iris Brown and Tomasita Romero also visited the classroom and assisted the students in planting amaryllis bulbs. Recognizing the importance of community gardening, the students chose to formally interview Norris Square gardeners, and publicize their efforts on the Internet.
