Library Exhibit

Printing Processes in Botanical Illustration
Through November 30, 2009

This exhibit accompanies the Treasures of the McLean Library short course. It depicts three printing processes used in botanical printmaking and features herbal woodcuts, eighteenth-century engravings and nineteenth-century lithographs from the library’s collections. Visit the McLean library from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

This two-day event is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Pennsylvania State University, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Morris Arboretum. Thursday’s program includes presentations followed by a reception and tour of the Morris Arboretum, including the new “Out on a Limb” tree adventure exhibit. In 2008 the US Green Building Council awarded the corporate headquarters building of popular footwear firm Dansko its second highest gold rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The 80,000-square-foot building earned this exceptional designation with a number of green features, including a green roof, a 20 x 22-foot green wall with a soothing waterfall, numerous recycled materials manufactured in the region, and recycled water and air in and around the building. more
