5 Great Roses for the Philadelphia Area (Zones 5-7)
 'Carefree Wonder' is a terrific shrub rose with abundant flower production and disease resistance
'Country Dancer', a nearly indestructible shrub rose with deep pink blossoms. Very disease and pest resistant.
'The Fairy', a small "polyantha" rose, is a dependable bloomer and quite disease-resistant.
'Knock Out' is a shrub rose whose flowers are cherry red and should be on display from May until frost. (And if cherry red doesn't fit into your color scheme, look for 'Blushing Knock Out', with pink flowers, which should be available in many garden centers this spring.)
'Zepherine Drouhin', a climbing rose that will take some shade and has flowers with the fragrance of raspberry. The blooms are small and prolific and the canes are thornless. |
