 | | Wednesday, February 4, 2009 | 7:30pm - 9:00pm Film Screening: A Man Named Pearl by Filmmaker Scott Galloway Presented by Scott Galloway Open to members
A Man Named Pearl tells the inspiring story of self-taught topiary artist Pearl Fryar. Pearl began work on a 3-acre garden in 1984 in an effort to win a “Yard of the Month” contest. What resulted was a fantastical world of trimmed and twisted trees, a sort of Dr. Seuss meets Edward Scissorhands, that earned him recognition among artists and botanists alike. The screening will be introduced and discussed by the director, Scott Galloway.
This event is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. PHS members may purchase tickets to this screening for the BMFI member price of $4.50. Advance tickets will be available to PHS and BMFI members as soon as the event is announced, or by November 25. General admission tickets can be purchased on the day of the event only.
