With the 2009 Flower Show celebrating Bella Italia, get in the mood with this enchanting look at Italian gardens through history, with special emphasis on the enormous influence Italianate garden features have had on gardens around the world, and specifically in America.
Harriet Henderson is a landscape architect and architect, and she practices western and Asian design as a principal of Cushing & Henderson. She lectures widely about garden design and history, teaches garden history at the Barnes Foundation and has traveled to Italy to study the Italian garden tradition. She has had the unique opportunity to design a large Italianate garden at Felicita near Harrisburg, PA.
The McLean Library will be open until 5:45 pm this evening. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and light refreshments and wine.
