 | | Saturday, October 4, 2008 | 8:00am - Noon Fall For Your Park Open to the public
Please join us for the 9th annual Fall For Your Park, when hundreds of volunteers will gather for a day of transformation at Olney Recreation Center and Tacony Creek Park in North Philadelphia.
Volunteers are needed to assist with improvement projects including woodland restoration, tree planting, garden creation, weeding, litter collection, and painting. Tools, gloves, and materials will be supplied.
Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 am at the Olney Recreation Center (100 E. Godfrey Avenue at A and Spencer Streets).
The workday will begin at 9am and will end at noon with a brief program and lunch. T-shirts will be given to all volunteers while supplies last.
This year’s Fall For Your Park is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Department of Recreation, the Fairmount Park Commission, the Philadelphia Green parks network, and Philadelphia’s Tree Tenders with support from PA CleanWays, Smith & Hawken, the William Penn Foundation, and the Olney community.
Fall For Your Park is proud to be a part of NeighborWoods Month, a project created by the Alliance for Community Trees and sponsored by the Home Depot Foundation.
