PNC INTRODUCES PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW CHECK CARD
TO BENEFIT THE PENNSYLVANIA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Customers and PNC Unite to Support Neighborhood
and City Beautification

PHILADELPHIA, May, 2003 - Spring is in the air and now PNC Bank customers can carry the season along with them with the introduction of the Philadelphia Flower Show Check Card by PNC Bank, a member of The PNC Financial Services Group Inc. (NYSE: PNC). With its cheerful depiction of petals in bloom, the new PNC Bank Visa Check Card was announced in March '03 as part of PNC's support of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), producer of the Philadelphia Flower Show.

As a Sponsor of the Flower Show since 1992, PNC worked in collaboration with PHS to develop the card as a potential fundraising tool. When a customer selects a Philadelphia Flower Show Check Card, $5 of the $10 fee will be his or her donation to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Proceeds benefit the society's neighborhood revitalization program, Philadelphia Green. This is the first time PNC has issued a check card to support a non-profit cultural institution.

The Philadelphia Flower Show Check Card is a great way for PNC to extend its support for this important initiative."

The largest indoor flower show in the world, the Philadelphia Flower Show draws more than 270,000 visitors to the greater Philadelphia region annually, generating an economic impact of $25 million and raising more than $1 million a year for Philadelphia Green, the country's largest neighborhood greening and public landscape program.

The Philadelphia Flower Show Check Card is available to new and current PNC Bank checking account customers at PNC bank branches. The check card provides free access to more than 3,500 PNC Bank ATMs and to make purchases at more than 20 million locations worldwide that accept Visa.
